Loan Repayment Calculator

Estimate your monthly repayments on a home, car or personal loan.

What the repayment figure includes

The result is the regular principal and interest payment on the loan amount, rate and term you enter. It does not include the costs that sit alongside the loan — council rates, insurance, body corporate fees, or any lender account or package fee. When you are working out what a purchase really costs each month, add those separately rather than assuming the repayment figure is the whole picture.

Term is the lever most people overlook

Rate gets the attention, but term quietly does more to the total. A longer term lowers the regular repayment and raises the total interest paid, because the balance stays outstanding longer. A shorter term does the reverse. Running the same loan amount over 25 and 30 years side by side usually makes the trade-off obvious in a way that comparing rates alone does not.

Weekly, fortnightly and monthly are not equivalent

Paying fortnightly at half the monthly amount means 26 payments a year, which is the equivalent of 13 monthly payments rather than 12. That single extra payment a year can take a meaningful stretch off a long loan without changing your budget much. Check how the frequency option is calculated before assuming two schedules are the same.

When you are ready to talk numbers

A calculator gives you a starting figure. What a lender will actually approve depends on your income, expenses, credit history and the property, and it varies between lenders. We compare more than 40 lenders on our panel and will tell you where you genuinely stand — see our home loan, refinancing and car loan services, or the suburb pages for Werribee, Tarneit and Point Cook.

FAQ

Loan Repayment Calculator FAQs

Why is my actual repayment different to the calculator?

Lender fees, the exact day count, and any offset or redraw arrangement can shift the figure. The calculator is indicative; your loan contract is definitive.

Does this work for car and personal loans?

Yes. The principal and interest maths is the same, though car and personal loans usually run over much shorter terms.
